Million Dollar Path

Small account. Real numbers. The long, boring road from $8,400 to $1,000,000.

About Me & This Blog

two screens, one edge (allegedly)

Hey — I'm Jordan Reyes. I'm 34, I live in Phoenix, and since March 2023 I've been trading a small account with the (increasingly less) ridiculous goal of turning it into $1,000,000, documenting all of it here.

The short version

Day job: operations manager at a logistics company. Not a finance guy, no Wall Street past, no certification that matters here. I trade my own money, cash account, swing trades and the occasional intraday setup, mostly US equities and index options. I am, on my best days, a moderately disciplined amateur. On my worst days you can read about them on the front page, because I write those down too.

Why I started the blog

Two reasons. The first one is embarrassing: I kept seeing trading content online where everyone was winning constantly, and I needed somewhere to keep myself honest. If I publish every month, including the red ones, I can't lie to myself about how it's going. It's the accountability version of a fridge lock.

The second reason is the math. $8,400 to $1,000,000 is a 119x. Compound that at, say, 40% a year — which is a big say — and it's a decade. Most "journey to a million" content quits inside year two, or quietly stops posting when the drawdown hits. I wanted to read a version that was boring enough to be true, and since I couldn't find one, I started writing it. If you're here for the same reason, welcome.

About the money math

To be completely transparent, because people ask: the starting stake was $8,400. I also deposited about $21k of day-job savings into the account across 2023 and 2024 (that's the "hustle" part — save hard, fund the account, don't touch the emergency fund). So the current $71,405 is part trading gains, part deposits, and I mark which is which in the trade log. No prop firm money, no selling courses, no "DM me for signals" — the blog earns nothing and I like it that way.

What I trade

  • Swing positions in US large- and mid-caps, 2-15 day holds
  • Index options for direction, defined risk, no naked anything
  • Occasionally one earnings play per season, which I keep telling myself is a rule (see: October 2026)

Where the name came from

A friend said "the million isn't the point, the path is," which sounded cheesy at the time and now has a favicon-level place in my life, apparently. It also accurately describes the timeline: the path is long. If you're looking for the 90-day version of this story, you're in the wrong place and honestly, so was I, for about a year.

Questions, mistakes you've spotted, or just want to tell me my risk rules are wrong (they might be): jordan@milliondollarpath.com. I answer almost everything eventually, usually on weekends, usually after the market's closed so nobody can accuse me of trading while emotional.
